Institute of Adult Education in Helsinki has traditionally offered a wide and diverse range of courses ranging from normal Open University courses to exotic courses of our own such as astrology.
Languages, however, constitute the bulk of our course selection - 16 of them in fact. Among them are widely spoken languages such as Arabic, English, Spanish, Chinese, French and Russian and less spoken languages such as Lappish, Estonian, and Hungarian. Our language groups are usually small allowing effective, intensive instruction.
Another large block of subjects in our course selection are arts and crafts. Our institute offers basic instruction in the visual arts for beginners, along with a wide range of more specialized and advanced courses such as the graphic arts, drawing, oil painting and watercolours. Interior decorating, calligraphy, ikebana and handicrafts also attract ample student interest. And one must not forget music! We offer tuition in piano playing and classical singing, and the institute has two choirs and a brass band.
There is also a lot of interest in our courses in the field of social and behavioural sciences. Under this umbrella are included course offerings like public lectures, and entrepreneurship, human relationships, self awareness, life skills, self expression and communication, logotherapy, NLP and effective presentations courses.
In addition to the above we offer a very wide range of dance and fitness courses. They are arranged either on our own premises, on premises that we have hired around the city centre, or alternatively on the premises of organizations we cooperate with. Pilates, chi kung, capoeira, yoga and many others - why not try them!
Information technology, business economics, boating, health and beauty care: these are also popular subjects studied at our institute. You can even get yourself an International Certificate of Competence for operators of pleasure craft once you have completed our preparatory course! On the other hand why not improve your image processing or digital photography skills? Or give yourself a new look by attending a make-over course!
It should also be mentioned that Institute of Adult Education in Helsinki has been arranging tailor-made courses for companies and other organizations for a long time. In our register there are at this point in time already 184 satisfied institutional clients ranging from large international corporations to government ministries.
